Office Politics in a different country

I’ve been in Ghana for just over a year now and have thankfully got myself a great job in marketing. In true Purple style, I’ve made a few observations and just have to share it!

Now, everywhere you go there will be office politics, but during my time here I have realised that Ghanaian office politics is slightly different.

Finsbury Park station

I know it’s a weird title to find in the ‘Soul Food’ section right?  Bear with me…

Finsbury Park has been a regular underground stop for me for the past 15 years now, and more recently, a source of inspiration for this article.

Godllywood: a spiritual girl’s best friend!

The Purple Touch are so honoured to be part of a very special group called the Godllywood. Through it, we have taken a journey to growing closer to God by unearthing our uglies, facing them and by fighting to be better versions of ourselves by embracing CHANGE.

Dear Baby Girl

You are not here yet, not even close to being thought of but I was inspired to write to you already! Quite clearly being  flesh of my flesh, you will be fabulous, have great fashion sense and confident, etc (lol), and I want you to channel your qualities and abilities into great things, positive things. After seeing what is promoted for girls and women to be like, act like and dress like, I want you to be inspired in a totally different way to what is offered by this world and hope that you will be too after reading this.

Worth the Wait Pt 2

Quite content with the way my life was heading, I looked forward to everyday with God. I was making my dreams come true, going after what I wanted and trying to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Of course I knew I wanted to find the right person at some point in the not-too-distant future, but that was not my main focus. I knew that by focussing on my single life and improving myself, I would become a much more, well-rounded person – someone who had something to give to my partner when I eventually found him.

Worth the Wait Pt 1

At the tender age of 16 I came to know the Lord Jesus. Though I grew up with a Catholic faith I had no true and personal relationship with God. Through an intense family trauma, my family and I sought refuge and help at a North London Christian Help centre and that was when my journey as a young Christian woman began.

As my relationship with God and development in my new found faith took priority, my love life was on the back burner. I understood that I had plenty of time for that and that God would provide me with the right person at the right time. This knowledge did not stop me from making a few mistakes in that area though!

Have your own faith

I started to go to church regularly by my own decision from when I was 14 years old. I was young and very naïve. I had my pre-conceived ideas of God and what it was to believe. However, this frame of mind that I had regarding the things of God was gradually being unpicked, broken down and built again.

A blessing

When we were children, discovering the wonders of the world, expectations, desire and hope were a natural part of us. We were fascinated by fairytales and hoped that our prince would one day come; we hoped that there would be a pot of gold at the end of our rainbow and that good would always overcome evil.

Never been Kissed!

We all know how it feels when you’re in school and puberty hits. All of a sudden you are highly aware of yourself and how attractive (or not) that you are to the opposite sex. Suddenly passing that spelling test is not as important as being the only one without a boyfriend. God forbid if you cannot contribute to those conversations about the best kisses and sexual experiences. That’s our world today.
